Animated explainer video - May 2025 — Momentum Transport Consultancy, in partnership with Spatial Design Hub, developed Micromobility Planner — a powerful data-led tool to help local authorities plan better micromobility networks. They approached us to visualise and animate an explainer video that would bring the product’s functionality and benefits to life. The client provided a complete script and a clear direction: create a high-quality, engaging video that could be used to build confidence in the tool’s capabilities. Our role While the script and product messaging were developed by the client team, we were responsible for: - Storyboarding the full video based on the approved script - Designing all visual assets in line with Micromobility Planner’s brand - Animating scenes to simulate product use, highlight benefits, and maintain viewer engagement Design We worked within the Micromobility Planner visual identity to create a consistent and distinctive visual tone. This included: - A cool, tech-forward colour palette centred around teal, white, and dark grey - Custom vector illustrations of maps, dashboards, and city environments - Stylised representations of micromobility vehicles and networks - UI displays of the actual interface of the product The design aimed to communicate clarity, sophistication, and modern mobility. Motion & Animation Our animation focused on translating technical functionality into intuitive visuals. We used: - Smooth scene transitions that mirrored user flow through the product - Map and data animations to illustrate insight generation in real time - UI interaction sequences (zooming, clicking, filtering) to simulate the planner in use - Kinetic text and stat reveals to highlight performance improvements The pacing and visual rhythm were designed to complement the voiceover and help reinforce the product’s value. Outcome The final video effectively showcased Micromobility Planner’s potential to improve transport planning across the UK. It was used as a key communications tool in funding and rollout discussions.
